Amazon Jungle Trading Company (AJTC) founder and Discovery Channel’s “Snake Island Treasure Quest” TV personality Captain Keith Plaskett (Cappy) has traveled and lived in South and Central America, for more than a decade. During his travels he has seen many poor and under-developed communities struggling to survive. He has witnessed crippling malnutrition in both the young and elderly. He has observed higher than normal death rates secondary to malnutrition. There is a basic lack of essential vitamins and minerals which sustain normal health and development.
The purchase of supplemental vitamins is out of the reach for these communities due to cost and availability. Fortunately, the answer is found in a tree that the indigenous population call the tree of life “Moringa.” Moringa provides a vast array of vitamins and minerals that are essential to optimum health.
Cappy has been distributing Moringa seeds to many communities over the past several years. Now the community leaders are growing the “Moringa Miracle Tree” which is providing beneficial vitamins and minerals. Entire communities now can have the ability to improve their health and well-being.
In a remote village of eastern India, I was approached by an old and dignified practitioner of traditional medicine. He had learned that Trees for Life was helping villagers plant fruit trees, and he had traveled more than a hundred miles to meet me. As we talked, he made an outrageous claim: “The leaves of the Moringa tree prevent 300 diseases.”
His claim was based on real-life experience. Now science is confirming this. Several studies are now revealing that Moringa Oleifera can improve health and well-being via essential vitamins and minerals it contains.
The leaves of this tree are worthy of special attention. Traditional medicine in several countries has used these leaves to treat a host of diseases. Clinical studies are suggesting that traditional medicine has been on the right track.
Nutritional analyses show that the leaves are very high in protein and contain all of the essential amino acids, including two amino acids that are especially important for children’s diets. This is most uncommon in a plant food.
Moringa leaves are also packed with essential vitamins and minerals—especially vitamins A and C. Delivering such powerful nutrition, these leaves could prevent the scourge of malnutrition and related diseases.
To top it off, Moringa is a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree that grows even in marginal soils and with very little care.
These humble leaves have the potential to deliver the nutrition needed to prevent and cure diseases and save populations.
"Captain Keith has, and is traveling to several countries to give Moringa Trees to the Indigenous Communities and is continuing to revisit these communities and monitor their progress in teaching them; Planting, Harvesting, Cleaning, and drying the Moringa leaves the proper way so the leaves do not to lose their healing potential."
